Community Guidelines

By MyNetResearch — last modified 2008-05-26

Welcome to MyNetResearch, the fastest-growing global research network that enables your faculty members and research staff to find and collaborate with other researchers around the world. Thank you for taking a moment to review the community guidelines, which are designed to:

a) Enable you to become a valuable contributor of the community

b) Foster frank dialogues, mutual respect and a sense of community

c) Make the community  enjoyable and respectful for all our users

d) Explain what kind of conduct to avoid

The way you interact and participate in MyNetResearch will shape the community. Please interact with other users accordingly and conduct yourself as you would in any professional setting. We expect everyone to abide by the User Agreement and follow our guidelines below:

1. Keep it clean, keep it professional. Every post should make a positive contribution to the community and should be suitable for all users. The community is open to all points of view on the intended research-related topics; mature, polite debate is encouraged. But we will remove any post or reply that includes derogatory, abusive, offensive, obscene, violent or inappropriate content of any kind. We will also reserve the right to instantly suspend any member who makes such posts or otherwise communicates in a similarly offensive fashion with other users. Always interact with other users respectfully, as you would in any professional setting.

2. Stay on topic. Good contributions help the entire community by providing relevant, insightful information or asking important questions. If your post contains anything unrelated to the topic of the forum or article, it may be removed.

3. Avoid solicitations for free professional services or advice.  Members of this website are here to collaborate with others on research projects.  Please do not seek free personal medical, legal, business or other advice from other members.  Repeat occurrences reported to the administrator will result in your membership being terminated.

4. Be honest, be yourself. The community is intended to be used for the helpful exchange of information between members. False, inaccurate, or otherwise misleading information is generally not helpful. Please be sincere in your community participation by only contributing content you know is accurate and not misrepresenting your identity or your qualifications.

5. Creating a congenial, professional community. All members have their user name displayed at the beginning of each post. In the forums, participants can introduce themselves, their work, their organization and their constituencies or just hang out to discuss any research issues.

6. Submit only your own, original content. Help us maintain the community's reputation and integrity by observing the intellectual property rights of others by only submitting content you have personally written or else properly attributed. The community should not be used to distribute unauthorized copies of any copyrighted material.

7.Respect the privacy of others. It's up to you, and only you, to decide whether or not to share personal information about yourself or your business. Any post or reply that includes another user's postal or email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information will be deleted immediately.

8. Blocking users. If you have come into contact with a user you no longer want to interact with go to the user’s page and block them. Please report any egregious behavior to the website administrator through the “Contact Us” feature.

9. Remember your readers. Writing in ALL CAPS or using HTML tags can make your contribution difficult to read. Excessive typographic symbols, special characters and instant/text messaging slang can be equally hard to read and may also be confusing to users who are unfamiliar with their meanings. Try to follow standard email etiquette.

10. Help look after the community - report spam, commercial use, abuse and copyright infringement. The community is here for the benefit and enjoyment of members like you. We rely on users to report and assess inappropriate, commercial, illegal or abusive activities. If you run across spam, blatant commercial use, abusive behavior, harmful advice, copyright infringement or other objectionable things, don’t panic. If it’s a slight offense you may help the user out by commenting and educating them that the content violates these community guidelines. If that doesn’t work please use the “Report This User” link located on every user’s profile page.

11. Please refer to the User Agreement and the Help section for more information about the MyNetResearch Online Community.
