MNR Usage Tips-My Projects module
Find Researcher Module (Horizontal Toolbar)
You can use Find Researcher to search the entire database for members to collaborate with in a project. You can use one or all of the research criteria to find the best match. You find members who meet your criteria at the end of the search. You may then browse through these profiles and select individual profiles for more detailed examination. You may also add profiles to your address book for easy reference in the future. If you get few hits, you can broaden your search by using fewer criteria (e.g. only Research Interests rather than Research Interests AND Teaching Interests)
What are my search options?
Research Interests
Select from 7 disciplines and their respective sub-disciplines (Subject)
Subject is dynamically populated based on the Discipline selected. In the empty field provided, you can narrow down your choice by typing the first few letters of your search item. Select one or more item(s) and Click arrows provided to move selection from Left to Right.
Teaching Interests (same method as above)
Research Skills
Select from the list of skills provided.
Geographical Region
Search by Country, State, City or Zip Code.
Journal
Select from the list of journals provided.
Grants Awarded
Search by Minimum grant awarded, Maximum grant awarded and Awarding body.

UN calls for more collaboration to fill research gaps on gender, peace and security
This is a perfect example of research collaboration in a Web 2.0 environment. It shows that virtual tools are cost effective and useful across the world. Often, travel is cost prohibitive, but with electronic media communication, our collaboration can be inclusive.
“UN-INSTRAW launched the results of “Filling the Gaps: A Virtual Discussion of Gender, Peace and Security Research” which took place in October 2008. The discussion was an opportunity for over 90 academics and researchers from universities, NGOs, research institutes and international organizations around the world to fortify existing networks and build a platform for more participatory and dynamic research.
The purpose of the three-week dialogue was to exchange information and stimulate the debate on Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) research with the goal of identifying gaps in current research and tools to fill them.
In particular, it aimed to assess the results of the work being done in research on GPS issues and identify concrete strategies and mechanisms to strengthen the impact of research on policy-making and operational efforts. Participants’ suggestions included increasing collaboration and networks between academia, policy makers and activists to make peace and security research more inclusive and its impact more visible. Finally, they suggested developing a Community of Practice that would strengthen the collaboration and information sharing among academia, policy-makers and activists.” Read more at:

MNR Announcements
MNR University Representatives
We continue to enlist University Representatives. As a representative, you will receive a free Premium membership during you appointment and there can be up to 2 appointees per university. You will be the local enthusiastic face of MNR at your institution, answering questions and sharing the benefits of MNR. You will also be able to funnel directly back feedback and suggestions to the MNR staff, thus helping to shape the future direction of the MNR community. Email admin@mynetresearch.com to take advantage of this chance to build your CV.
Discipline Specific Grant-Writing Forums
In the forums, organized by discipline, look out for Calls for Grants identified by our Grants Editor. Each week, look in the discipline forums to find the Calls for Grants, together with ideas for possible proposals. Interested researchers who coalesce around a grant proposal will receive the assistance of a MyNetResearch facilitator, who will advise collaborators on grant proposals, provide grant templates, and even help with an initial review. Visit the forums often and look out for new information on grants.
