A Growing Web of Collaboration
We are happy to report the continuing rapid growth of MyNetResearch. We now have hundreds of researchers from 89 countries as members of this growing research community. Each new member solidifies the paradigm shift from the way we have conducted research over the last 100 years.
We are now collaborating with other researchers across thousands of miles and on different continents. We can access our research projects from any location with an Internet connection. We have online access to the most current research news and tools.
We thank all those who have invited their friends and colleagues to join MyNetResearch and remind everyone that every new member you bring to MyNetResearch gives you two (2) months of Premium Membership.
Welcome to Marywood University and Cyprus University of Technology
Help us extend a hearty welcome to Marywood University (Pennsylvania) and Cyprus University of Technology—the first two universities to join MyNetResearch as Institutional members! As more universities join MyNetResearch over the summer, we expect an explosion of creativity and more and more people work in global teams to produce a wealth of research advancements.
Cash Prizes for our Doctoral Students Research Competition!
We are running an awards competition to provide support to doctoral students. In 2008, the award will recognize three outstanding doctoral students from any discipline, and from any country.
These awards will be made for the outstanding and innovative research ideas that have the potential to lead to advancements in their respective fields of study. The submitted short articles should be detailed
in 1,500 words or less and must cover original work on theoretical models, experimental design, research findings, or inventions.
The grants may be used in any way that furthers the student's doctoral research, including presentation and publication costs of the completed dissertation. Full information at: http://www.mynetresearch.org/
The “Overhead” of Traditional Research Collaboration
A very interesting paper by Lee and Bozeman (2005) discusses the overhead of traditional collaborations between geographically distant researchers. They assert that using the methods like the telephone to make and maintain contact with other remote experts is expensive in terms of time and effort. It is no surprise therefore that only 5% of the collaborations of US-based researchers are with researchers outside the country. Similar numbers obtain in other countries as well.
MyNetResearch “tears down the walls” dividing researchers and gives us tools for more efficient research management and idea dissemination. Soon, led by MyNetResearch, global research will be the rule, not the exception!
Get Involved!
MyNetResearch is our community, your community, so get involved. Invite colleagues and friends. Contribute theories to the Wiki. Submit articles for publication. All these will be rewarded with two (2) month Premium Memberships.
