The New Research Paradigmcollaboration
The global recession has led research-related institutions and funding agencies to do some soul-searching about whether they are conducting research in the most effective and efficient way.

The world is becoming more interconnected and innovation and discovery are no longer the preserve of one country or a small group of countries. Instead, the new "flat" world is characterized by multiple centers of innovation dispersed among different countries.

The challenge for national research enterprises has shifted to new models for innovation and research, at vastly reduced cost, given the current economic climate. It is clear that this next step will involve the Web, specifically, Web 2.0.

Virtual Research Infrastructures are a major method for unlocking the additional synergies that global research collaboration affords. The whole as we know, becomes much more than the sum of its parts. Knowledge in one country can build on knowledge in another to yield even more valuable sets of knowledge and discovery.

MyNetResearch is excited to be in the vanguard of this new movement towards global research collaborations, moving away from "collaborations of convenience (or proximity)" to synergistic collaborations where time and geographical barriers are torn down. We hope you are as excited as we are and encourage you to write and tell us your experiences with our portal and community.

Help us continue rapid growth across the world by telling your colleagues, Deans and Research Managers about us, and spreading the word. Let others know about the #1 research community!

MNR Tips – Retrieving Old Versions of Papers
Have you ever wanted to retrieve an old version of a paper before you made the latest set of edits?  This can be very frustrating and a common problem for researchers.  Paper versions

Did you know this feature was built into MyNetResearch?  Go to any Project where you have documents saved, in either the Public or Private Files section. If you have saved a new version, the version # will be 2.0.  Click on the version # (in this case, 2.0) and it shows you Version 1.0 and 2.0.  Click 1.0 to download the last version.  Clever, yes?

Not only clever, but very crucial for lab researchers and others who need a date-stamped record of document origin or need to see previous versions of documents.

Grants and More Grants
For those faculty interested in grants, take a look at these two interesting grant proposals:

(1) Building Sustainable Community-Linked Infrastructure to Enable Health Science Research.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a Grant Competition - From the RFP:

"This NIH Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), supported by funds provided to the NIH under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009, Public Law 111-5, solicits applications from domestic (United States) institutions/organizations proposing to support the development, expansion, or reconfiguration of infrastructures needed to facilitate collaboration between academic health centers and community-based organizations for health science research. Such collaboration should transform the way in which health science research is conducted in communities, and accelerate the pace, productivity, dissemination, and implementation of health research; applications that build upon extant collaborative infrastructures supported by other Federal agencies are strongly encouraged."

$30 million will fund 30 grants. The two important dates are:

Letters of Intent Receipt Date(s): November 12, 2009
