FOCUS OF THIS BOOK

With advancements of information and communication technologies, physical boundaries of local social networks have evaporated.  Online social networks replicate and enhance the benefits of traditional social networks across time and space and accelerate and globalize the process. The collaboration efforts among researchers in this environment are called e-research collaboration.

E-Research Collaboration can be defined as: the use of information communication technologies which enable the collaboration among individuals/group engaged in a research project.  These technologies can range from email to enterprise packages and online software services.

While we have seen the unprecedented growth of social networking tools such as MySpace, Facebook and Linkedin, these were primarily designed for social purposes. It is only in the last year that we have begun to see the emergence of research-based social networking tools. These tools, for example, MyNetResearch and 2Collab, can facilitate collaborative environments to orchestrate interaction within networks of researchers, partners, and customers to boost creativity and innovation. E-Research collaboration technologies can supply seamless connectivity to allow work anywhere and anytime.

The mechanisms of e-research collaboration are an emergent phenomenon.  We invite researchers to submit analytical, case-study, conceptual, experiential ethnographic or narrative papers to enhance our understanding of the frameworks, practices and tools and techniques in e-research collaboration.

Why should you write for the book? This book provides an opportunity for interested authors to publish on a state-of-the-art topic in a comprehensive, unique book that will be widely read, recognized, and cited. In addition, you will gain benefits such as: peer recognition and endorsement of your work globally, membership in an elite group of contributors with excellent networking opportunities, support from the editors, and feedback and suggestions for improvements of your chapter. Most important, you will be contributing to a book that will be read by many researchers and professionals who will see this as an important source in e-research collaboration practices.

TOPICS

We invite researchers and practitioners to contribute chapters to this unique and very timely reference source. Chapters will be no more 5,000 words, contain no more than 25 references, 3-4 tables, 3-4 figures. Chapters will be double-blind peer reviewed to ensure rigor and relevance.

This call for chapters seeks foundation-building research on e-research collaboration issues in the Arts and Humanity, Social and Behavioral sciences, Life Sciences, Engineering, Medicine and Business disciplines. 

Interdisciplinary works as well as industry-academic joint research efforts are especially welcome. We seek high-quality, original contributions dealing with topics such as:

CHAPTER PROPOSAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Interested authors are invited to submit a chapter proposal of no more than four pages for their planned submissions. The proposal must clearly articulate the title, scope and coverage of the proposed chapter. Please include a tentative chapter outline, and highlight how the proposed chapter will contribute to the scholarly value and usefulness of the book. The proposal must include all of the authors’ names, affiliations, and email addresses. You are welcome to send in any number of proposals. Chapter proposals in Microsoft Word format should be submitted by email to Professor Murugan Anandarajan at: ma33@drexel.edu.

Given the theme of this book, we are using MyNetResearch, a web-based research collaborative portal for chapter submissions and the review process. Once you submit your proposal, we will register you in MyNetResearch and send you the necessary details.  All future correspondence will be through the web portal.
